Xbox One Should Implement "Cortana" Voice AI!

Anyone that owns an Xbox One knows the voice command feature could be much better. It works moderately well if you're willing to yell at your Kinect from across the room, but is still limited in its abilities. There's a preset list of commands it accepts, but if you say anything that deviates from the EXACT phrase, the Xbox will simply not respond to you.

Game Prophet's solution: Implement Cortana!

Cortana is a reference to the AI in the Halo games

Microsoft's AI

Last year Microsoft added "Cortana", an AI voice recognition software similar to Apple's "Siri", to their lineup of Windows Phones. According to critics, this software works rather well and may be the only good thing about Windows phones (sorry Microsoft but it's true). Cortana is programmed to recognize phrases rather than just fixed commands. I don't think its too far of a reach to make the crossover from phone to console software, but maybe I'm dreaming. If Cortana is such a successful voice recognition tool, why is it not on the Xbox One?

I said "Watch Netflix" dammit!

Sounds like a simple command, right? Its certainly a built-in voice function for the Xbox One to launch apps, games, and TV. But noooooo, it's not "Watch Netflix", it's, "Go to Netflix" and ONLY that. The current vocal recognition is not adaptable to the user's choice of wording at all. It's either exactly what the command is, or its not - cut and dry. Adding Cortana would hopefully alliveate some of these issues so long as she could make out the user's speach.

Xbox hates my Girlfriend...

I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "Brad, the Xbox isn't listening to me... Do something" when my girlfriend is trying to pause the TV with a voice command. I've calibrated my Kinect microphone so many times to see if it would hear us better, but it simply does not help. Microsoft needs to raise the sensitivity of the microphone, or add one to the controller. I hate shouting across the living room to complete a simple voice task because the Kinect only likes my deep voice!

Microsoft certainly has some work to do to improve their voice command support. I think the knowledge of phrases that Cortana possesses would be a ideal for the One console but maybe I'm wrong; I don't have a Window Phone (for obvious reasons). Comment below and let me know your feelings on the matter!
